Key Information: technical requirements
What technical requirements must my product meet to enter and compete in the Indian market?
Brazilian technical regulations can be identified in the following ways:
- Through periodic monitoring of the Federal Official Gazette (DOU: Diário Oficial da União). The DOU is one of the means of communication.
The National Press is required to make public notification of all subject matters under federal jurisdiction.
The D.O.U. is available online
- Through registration on the Exporter Alert (Alerta Exportador) system. The Exporter Alert system obtains access to the notifications sent by all member countries
of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and sends them via email to those registered in the system, in accordance with their profile. The profile is defined by the user,
who selects the products and countries for which the user is interested in receiving such information.
To register for this service, please visit and click on “Alerta Exportador”.
- By following Brazil’s notifications under the WTO Agreement on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (WTO SPS Agreement). Brazil has two Enquiry points for the WTO SPS Agreement: one is the Agricultural Protection
Secretariat of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (SDA/MAPA), accessible by
email at [email protected]; and the other is the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) of the Ministry of Health (MS), accessible by
email at [email protected].
Access to the notifications made by Brazil can also be obtained through the WTO portal
How can I get early warning about changes to these requirements?
