Organizational Overview
The Automation Standards Compliance Institute is an ISA-owned non-profit organizational entity that assesses automation-related standards compliance. The institute's charter includes a wide range of standards compliance assessments including, software or hardware products, implementation methods, solutions, companies and individuals.
Scope of Conformity Assessment Activity
The Automation Standards Compliance Institute (ASCI) is organized by Interest Areas (Institutes), each separately focused on subject areas such as cyber security of industrial automation controls, interoperability of manufacturing operations management systems, and wireless communication standards for industrial automation controls.
The scope of conformity varies among the ASCI Institutes and is broad. The scope of conformity includes product robustness for industrial automation control (IAC) devices, device conformance to a communication standard, conformance of organizational management practices to a standard for the cyber security lifecycle of deployed devices, conformance of management practices to a standard for the cyber security lifecycle in the development and production of IAC devices, and conformance to a standard of software interfaces and transaction messaging for industrial interoperability.
