In the United States, the private-sector led standards system is coordinated by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Within the ANSI federation,
there are hundreds of independent organizations that develop standards, perform conformity assessment (e.g. testing, inspection, certification, etc.), and that represent key industry sectors.
The following Directories provide information on a wide variety of Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs), Trade Associations and Conformity Assessment Bodies
(CABs) that play a role in the U.S. system, including contact information, the scope of standards development work, and their international activities by geographic region.
These Directories aim principally to facilitate international participation and cooperation with these U.S. – based organizations.

This Directory provides information on the U.S.-based accreditation bodies that are members of major multilateral fora and arrangements such as the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). IAF Members accredit certifiers of products, personnel, and management systems (e.g. ISO 9001, etc.). ILAC members accredit laboratories. The Directory also provides links to the lists of conformity assessment bodies accredited by each accreditation body.
