Organizational Overview
DirectTrust is a collaborative non-profit association of over 100
health IT and health care provider organizations to support secure,
interoperable health information exchange via the Direct message
protocols. The Mission of DirectTrust is to support health
information exchange that is secure, interoperable, affordable,
ubiquitous and usable by diverse end-users. The Mission is pursued
in the interest of the public good, as a non-profit, competitively
neutral, membership ‘learning organization’ for voluntary selfgovernance
of health information exchange.
Scope of Standards Developing Activity
DirectTrust Standards develops standards and specifications that
enable and promote healthcare interoperability using Direct
exchange and trust frameworks.
