Organizational Overview
The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) was
founded in 1926 and represents over 300 electrical equipment and
medical imaging manufacturers that make safe, reliable, and
efficient products and systems. NEMA member companies
manufacture products used in the generation, transmission and
distribution, control, and end-use of electricity. NEMA publishes
nearly 1,000 standards, application guides, and technical papers.
Scope of standards developing activity
NEMA manages more than 30 separate consensus bodies covering
products from wire and cable to medical imaging equipment.
Generally, the scope of NEMA documents are in line with
performance standards for electrical equipment.
