AOCS is a global professional scientific society for all individuals and corporations with interest in the fats, oils, surfactants, detergents and related materials fields. The mission of the Society is the driving force behind all educational materials, technical products and services produced with the help of the AOCS Membership.

The AOCS Mission: To be a global forum to promote the exchange of ideas, information, and experience, to enhance personal excellence, and to provide high standards of quality among those with a professional interest in the science and technology of fats, oils, surfactants, and related materials. AOCS maintains its worldwide presence from its headquarters in Champaign/Urbana, Illinois, USA.

Scope of Standards Developing Activity

AOCS develops, maintains and publishes the Official Methods and Recommended Practices of the AOCS, a compendium of more than 400 methods of analysis for matrices such as oilseeds, oilseed meals, fats and oils, soaps and detergents, and phospholipids. AOCS works with sister organizations, ISO, and at intergovernmental levels to harmonize methods of analysis. AOCS hosts the US Technical Advisory Groups for ISO/TC 34 (including Working Groups) and ISO/TC 34/SC 2 and SC 11.
