Organizational Overview

Founded in 2020 as the official standards development body for Scientific Certification Systems, Inc., SCS Standards spearheads or facilitates the development of sustainability standards in the public and private sectors. Our mission is create standards that are science-based to help drive sustainability development and a circular economy.

SCS Standards specializes in the development of proprietary voluntary sustainability standards that break new ground in environmental and social responsibility and provide a platform to recognize leadership efforts in multiple industries. Our experience encompasses natural resource extraction from forests, fisheries and mines, food and agricultural production, the built environment, consumer products,in management solutions.

Scope of Standards Developing Activity

Our standard-writing expertise is informed by nearly four decades of work in the field of environmental, ethical sourcing, sustainability, and food quality and safety standards development and third-party certification by our parent organization, Scientific Certification Systems, Inc. (operating as SCS Global Services). This experience has included proprietary standards developmentand responsible sourcing specifications for private companies and industry associations, participation on national and international (e.g., ISO) standards setting committees, commentary on governmental regulations and specifications, participation in NGO-driven international multi-stakeholder standards development efforts, and more.
