Organizational Overview
The American Bearing Manufacturers Association (ABMA) is a non-profit association consisting of American manufacturers of anti-friction bearings,
spherical plain bearings or major components thereof. The purpose of ABMA is to define national and international standards for bearing products and
maintain bearing industry statistics. The ABMA has become the collective voice of the American bearing industry, influencing government policies and
international trade. ABMA member companies manufacture 85 percent of the bearings produced in the United States.
Scope of Membership Activity
Membership in the ABMA is open to any firm with a substantial part of its business being the manufacture, in the United States, of anti-friction bearings, spherical plain bearings or major components thereof. There are two meetings each year, an Annual Conference in conjunction with the American Gear Manufacturers Association and a Fall Meeting for ABMA members.
Scope of Services
ABMA serves as the American bearing industry's collective voice domestically as well as internationally. ABMA manages the industry’s website, updates members on developments in the industry, plans events, creates standards, and develops and promotes industry education.
Standards-related Information
ABMA creates its own standards and a list of those standards can be found on our website.
This industry is self-regulated on a voluntary basis.
