India’s information technology industry is rapidly advancing to participate in the international market with cutting edge innovative technologies.
A part of this industry, biometrics technology plays a key role in national priorities such as homeland security and e-governance.
As biometrics continue to be incorporated in government programs in both the U.S. and India, industry opportunities will increase,
provided understanding of the relevant international standards also increases.
In order to provide a forum for sharing best practices for developing standards for biometric technologies between technical experts in the U.S. and India, a workshop will be held in New Delhi on July 22, 2010 .
The workshop will take place under the U.S.-India Standards and Conformance Cooperation Program (SCCP), a cooperative initiative carried out by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), with funding from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA).
