Workshop – Plumbing and Mechanical Codes and Standards

India is emerging as a major developing market, both in the new construction sector and in the remodel-replacement markets. As these markets continue to grow, the encouragement of adoption of uniform codes based on applicable international standards will create a level playing field for manufacturers of equipment and materials in both the plumbing and mechanical HVACR industry sectors.
In order to encourage the adoption and enforcement of best practices plumbing and mechanical codes and standards and protect consumers and workers in India, a workshop was held in New Delhi on October 27, 2010.
The workshop took place under the U.S.-India Standards and Conformance Cooperation Program (SCCP), a cooperative initiative carried out by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), with funding from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA).
